Maurice began his career as a criminal defence lawyer in Red Deer, defending against charges such as murder, drunk driving causing death, drug trafficking, home invasion, and aggravated sexual assault. Maurice moved to the Crown Prosecutor’s Office as the youngest prosecutor and became the longest serving active Crown Prosecutor in Central Alberta. Maurice has successfully run trials for murder (with and without a jury), drunk driving causing death, aggravated assault and sexual assault, home invasions, drive by shootings, and countless trials for sexual assault, domestic violence and drunk driving. Maurice has prosecuted triple first degree murder and has experience with police under cover operations, wire taps, and search warrants. Maurice has lectured at numerous RCMP seminars, and has been an instructor for the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service and for prosecutors across the country. Maurice enjoys playing hockey, riding a motorcycle, and skiing.
