Karey Rodgers

Karey Rodgers graduated from The University of Alberta Faculty of Law in 2019. During law school, Karey focused on taking classes in criminal law, advocacy, and appellate practice. While in law school she was a volunteer with Student Legal Services of Edmonton where she gained considerable experience in criminal proceedings while attending court and advocating for the less privileged. Prior to law, Ms. Rodgers obtained a master’s degree in Classical Archaeology. She obtained numerous scholarships and research grants throughout her academic career and enjoys applying her skills in research and writing to the practice of criminal law.

She attained a position as a summer student with the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service in 2018. With this experience, Karey gained insight into how the Crown conducts criminal prosecutions, as well as valuable trial experience in both provincial court and assisting with a jury trial in the Court of Queen’s Bench. 

 Karey articled with Konye Criminal Law and Song Law Corporation. During her articling year, she appeared in Edmonton criminal docket courts on an almost daily basis and gained experience defending clients on numerous charges, including property offences, assaults, weapons offences, and drug trafficking. She conducted bail hearings on an almost weekly basis and advocated for the judicial interim release of clients whose charges included property offences, weapons offences, drug trafficking, robbery, manslaughter, and child pornography. She has quickly developed an aptitude for criminal defence and is earning a reputation as a fierce and capable advocate.
