Jessica Cartwright gained an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Alberta. She returned to the University of Alberta to obtain her law degree after working in the private sector for several years. Jessica was the President of the Indigenous Law Students Association during her second and third year of Law school. While in Law school, Jessica also volunteered for the Student Legal Services Criminal Division and received the Metis Scholar Award and the Hadjuk Gibbs Award.
Jessica joined Advocate Law in March 2021 after working as a Criminal Defense Lawyer for over two years at BARR LLP. Jessica has represented clients in various jurisdictions throughout Alberta and in both the Provincial Court and the Court of Queen’s Bench. Jessica is a fierce and relentless advocate for her clients and maintains good relationships. Jessica is driven by the need to explore every possible avenue in defending her clients who have been charged with a criminal offense.
.She maintains a Criminal Law practice with a focus on various types of assaults, weapons charges, drug charges, and murder and attempted murder charges. The extra time and attention that she provides each client is both refreshing and appreciated.
